WTF is going on here? 
Above is a picture of protesters at a "Don't White-Out Our History" ralley in Austin Texas back in May. The Texas Board of Education has decided that they want to change some things in the Social Studies books used in their school system. They think that Thomas Jefferson doesn't need to be mentioned as much and that students need to know the downside of Title IX and Affirmative Action.
Wait! Guess what they DO NOT want our children to see. The fact that there was a route through the Atlantic Ocean called "The Atlantic Slave Trade" route in which they transported our ancestors from their homeland to come and live in captivity. They want to downplay history and now call it "The Trans Atlantic Trade" route. So just remove the word "slave" and remove the memory right? NEGATIVE!
I'm extremely heated about this. I don't understand how they can expect people to be okay with them trying to teach children (particulary OUR children) fake history. Why would anybody be okay with this? You cant change history so you shouldn't be able to change how its told. This route, correction... this SLAVE ROUTE was the primary route used in bringing over the majority of slaves brought to America. I would rather them remove the whole section about the route instead of them changing the name and what is taught about it. If you're going to teach it, teach them what it REALLY WAS. Not to make this a black/white issue but personally, I was most interested in reading about my people in school. Not that I liked the realization of what was done to us, but I LOVED the realization of what a strong race of people we were and continue to be. Seeing the way we were treated, how we fought to have rights and how we overcame it all made me so proud as a child. This history is an inspiration for us, or should be at least. I want my babies to know about ALL the things that their ancestors withstood in order for them to simply read a book, drink from a water fountain and just be a free person in this world. Texas needs to get their ish together and quick.

Asking For A Date” West Acquitted Of All Charges
A convict busted after he texted the woman he was accused of raping to ask her for a date was acquitted of all charges yesterday. Timothy West, 26, embraced his lawyer, Mihea Kim, as jurors found him not guilty in Queens Supreme Court of four counts of rape, predatory sexual assault, burglary and robbery.
An irate Judge Richard Buchter snapped at them, “Cut that out. It’s not appropriate in the courtroom.” The surprising verdict — which the jury reached in less than a day — came after Pamela Arias testified in horrifying detail that West terrorized her for more than three hours and then apologized and asked her out. The jury “didn’t believe her story because there were no signs of forced entry” into her home, said one male panelist.
Arias was not in the courtroom yesterday and was unaware of the verdict for several hours. Her mother said last night, “I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. What happened with all the proof? It’s crazy to let him walk because of that one detail.” The mom said the reason there was no forced entry was because she had left a window unlocked.
The not-guilty vote came despite the panel’s listening to a taped phone conversation in which Arias accused West of raping her, and he apologized.
Although acquitted, West wasn’t able to walk out of the courtroom a free man. He was immediately put on a bus headed back to prison to complete a seven-year sentence for burglary in a different case. That provides no consolation to Arias, who has been in therapy.
“She’s going to school, but it’s hard because she’s always nervous someone is following her,” the mom said. West had been accused of breaking into Arias’ home in Ozone Park at about 1 a.m. March 20, 2009. The gutsy waitress last week testified that West, whom she had never seen before, entered through a kitchen window, grabbed a butcher knife and walked up the stairs to her bedroom.
She said she didn’t scream because she feared what West would do to her brother and mother, who were sleeping down the hall. She claimed that as her ordeal was ending, West asked her if “maybe we could still be friends.” Arias, 21, agreed only to his request for her cellphone number in the hope that it would lead to his arrest, she testified.
Cops were with her later that day when she got a text from an unknown number that said, “call me.” When she called, three detectives listened in.
“I’ve never seen you before, and you just walk up to my house . . . and you raped me!” said Arias, according to the recording of the call. West said he was sorry. They arranged to meet at a doughnut shop and cops busted him there. SMH
This dummy was so wrapped up in that retarded Farmville Game on Facebook that she couldn’t be bothered to figure out why her 3-month-old was crying. And when she finally stopped, it was to quiet the poor baby permanently.
Alexandra Tobias, a Florida mother accused of shaking her 3-month-old son to death after he interrupted her FarmVille game on Facebook, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. The 22-year-old was charged in the January death of her baby, Dylan Lee Edmondson. She entered her plea on Wednesday.
Tobias told investigators she became angry after the baby cried while she was playing the computer farm simulation game, and she shook him.In other words, she might still be young enough to live a full life when she gets out. SMH.
She also said she smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook the baby again, at which time he may have hit his head, the station reported.
State guidelines call for 25 to 50 years in prison, but a prosecutor said Tobias’ sentence could be shorter than that.

‘Snakes In The Pulpit’ Author Requests Judge To Order HIV And STD Testing For Bishop Eddie Long
Forget about burning in hell… Reuben Armstrong, the Dallas based talk show host who made a formal request that Bishop Eddie Long step down amidst allegations of sexual coercion, is more concerned about the Bishop BURNING on Earth.
In fact, he’s so concerned that he’s making another request. but this time it’s of the Judge hearing the case against Bishop Eddie Long.
Armstrong has requested via a Certified Letter to DeKalb County State Court Judge Johnny Panos requesting that the court mandate certain medical tests due to the allegations that have been brought against Bishop Eddie Long. Bossip has seen the certified letter.
In it, Armstrong is requesting that the Judge issue a court order for Bishop Eddie Long to submit to HIV, syphilis and hepatitis testing. While Armstrong stops short of accusing Bishop Long of having such diseases, he raises the possibility that if the allegations against Bishop Eddie Long are true, there may be a chance that Bishop Long exposed himself and others to such diseases. Armstrong even cites the case of another Atlanta Bishop — JD Husband, who molested and infected a young man with AIDS before they both died of complications from the disease.
Here’s an excerpt from Armstrong’s letter to Judge Panos:
On behalf of the African American community, which is plagued with the onslaught of AIDS and HIV, I am seeking your consideration into the recent allegations made against Bishop Eddie Long. I am requesting that you, as the Honorable Judge of the court, mandate Bishop Eddie Long to submit to a confidential HIV/AIDS test, along with other tests for sexually transmitted diseases.
Armstrong goes on to cite statistics for rising incidents of HIV/STD in the black community, as well as to detail the case of Bishop JD Husband. Despite how it sounds, Armstrong says his motivations are pure.
My request does not come by way of revenge, publicity or persecution,” Armstrong writes. “I am not saying that the Bishop has this disease. I am saying that the alleged behaviors listed in the allegations of the court documents is behavior that promotes sexually transmitted diseases…In the event that he is found to be positive with any sexually transmitted disease, I request that his court date be pushed to the top of your docket so that his connection to the community would be limited.Your Honor, my words cannot express how serious this matter is to me on behalf of the African American community. The health of many young boys may depend on this request. If it is within the powers of the law to mandate such a test to Bishop Eddie Long, this would be a pro-active defense in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases in the African American community.
BTW, Armstrong hasn’t given up on trying to get Bishop Eddie Long out of the pulpit. He and Prophet H. Walker of North Carolina are calling for Bishop Eddie Long to STEP DOWN from the Pulpit There will be a rally at 2 pm on Oct 31, 2010 at the Georgia State Capital.
